Utility and Use Cases

The governance token has multiple utility functions beyond basic payment:

  • VIP Features: Certain premium features, such as priority access to new characters or charm drops, may require holding or staking a minimum number of tokens.
  • Exclusive Tournaments: High-stakes tournaments with large prize pools might require token entry fees, rewarding experienced players with valuable assets or tokens.
  • Discounts and Rebates: Staking tokens can reduce marketplace commission fees or provide soft currency rebates on purchases.
  • AI Marketplace: Players may develop and sell AI models on an AI marketplace. Buyers pay in tokens, and the platform takes a small cut. This incentivises skilled players to refine and monetise their AI strategies.

Acquisition and Circulation

To maintain a healthy token economy, Mahjong Stars will employ mechanisms for controlled token supply:

  • Initial Distribution: Tokens are allocated among the team, advisors, community rewards, treasury and public sale. Vesting schedules ensure team and advisor allocations unlock gradually, aligning incentives with long-term project success.
  • Earning Mechanisms: Tokens can be earned through gameplay achievements, tournament prizes, staking rewards and marketplace trading. A portion of soft currency spent on certain features converts into tokens to fund reward pools.
  • Airdrops: Airdrops can be given to loyal users and also loyal community members, enhancing their relationship with Mahjong whilst demonstrating to them that they are rewarded for their time within the ecosystem.
  • In-Game: For some specific tournaments or games, there may be a required token fee or to have x amount staked. Noting that there are also rewards for the players that can be distributed in the form of the native token.
